One of the very common joke on whatsapp groups is about unpredictable behaviour or mood swings of the wife, girlfriend or women in general. Both genders go through ups and downs due to daily situations but for women apart from daily situations there is another medical condition known as Premensutral syndrome (PMS) which is main cause of this behaviour.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a condition which majorly affects a woman’s emotions, her physical health and her behavior during certain days of the menstrual cycle, this generally happens a week before her menses and goes away once the cycle starts ..

Major reason for pms is a change in both sex hormone and serotonin levels at the beginning of the menstrual cycle. Levels of estrogen and progesterone (female hormones) increase during certain times of the month. This increase in these hormones leads to mood swings , irritability, fatigue , feeling low and anxiety . Some other symptoms can be tenderness of breasts , abdominal bloating , water retention , food cravings mostly for sweet , sleep disturbance etc.
